Seniors Support Services promote client safety, independence, and overall wellbeing while clients continue to live comfortably in their own homes. These programs are funded by Ontario Health and are provided at no cost to eligible clients. Our seniors programs are accepting self-referrals. Referrals may also be made by Ontario Health at Home, primary care providers or other health care professionals, including hospital or community support staff.

Mary’s Place is a 20-bed emergency shelter for individuals 18 years and older. Mary’s Place provides safety, support and emergency accommodation to clients who are dealing with homelessness, poverty, mental illness and/or violence. Programs & services; emergency accommodation and safety planning, referrals and advocacy for medical, legal and other community services, assistance in establishing permanent housing.

Seniors at Risk in Hamilton facilitates timely interventions and offers support for seniors impacted by issues such as dementia, abuse, exploitation, mental and physical health challenges, precarious housing, food insecurity and social isolation. The program is a collaboration between Good Shepherd Centres, the Alzheimer’s Society and St. Matthew’s House.

The Good Shepherd Centre was established in 1961 as a men’s shelter. The Centre has since become a beacon of hope and a place of shelter, sustenance and spiritual healing for thousands of individuals. Services offered; emergency overnight accommodation for up to 54 clients including meals and laundry services, overflow spaces for up to 10 clients, case management and referrals to appropriate community resources.
