February is Black History Month
Every February, people across Canada participate in Black History Month events and festivities that honour the legacy of Black people in Canada and their communities.
The theme for Black History Month 2025 is “Celebrating the Mosaic: Black is Limitless”. This theme is meant to encourage people to explore the rich history and culture of Black people and communities. It also calls on people to consider their own connection to Black history and culture.
This month provides an opportunity to engage in open dialogue and a commitment to learning more about the stories Black communities in Canada have about their histories, successes, sacrifices and triumphs.
This month, Good Shepherd will celebrate Black voices and promote organizations that work to explore, research, document and preserve Black history.
