Statement from The Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God – Pray for Peace

As a Catholic Christian and humanitarian organisation that advocates hospitality, fraternity and solidarity, the Hospitaller Order of St. John of God is deeply challenged by the situation in Gaza.

The civilian population is condemned to face death every day. Hospitals, schools, camps, and now food distribution centres are being indiscriminately attacked. Most essential humanitarian aid has become a death trap, and we are witnessing an absolute and systematic violation of human rights, which is against international law.

In the face of this inhumane situation, the Hospitaller Order of St John of God, joins the call already made by many international humanitarian aid organizations to end the military siege of the civilian population and re-establish safe channels for humanitarian aid, coordinated and directed by the UN and other humanitarian agencies.

We cannot remain silent and must not show indifference in the face of such a humanitarian atrocity. The Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God will continue working, day after day, for the people who need help the most, and help break the indifference and silence that prevails while the bombs, death, indifference and neglect persists not only in Gaza, but in other war-torn areas throughout the World.
