Barrett Centre for Crisis Support provides a safe environment in the community for individuals who are experiencing a mental health and/or substance use crisis and who do not require a hospital stay. We serve all genders, 16 years of age or older. Our confidential and free services are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

NOTICE: Barrett Centre for Crisis Support will experience down time with their phones and fax on Tuesday, August 29 until approx. 2:00 PM. If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis in Hamilton during this time, please call COAST at 905-972-8338 or Toll Free: 1-844-972-8338.
Barrett Centre staff will follow-up on referrals when the outage is completed.
In accordance with Canadian Public Health Guidelines with respect to COVID-19, the Barrett Centre for Crisis Support is implementing health screening for individuals being considered for admission to the crisis bed program.

Barrett Centre for Crisis Support provides a safe environment in the community for individuals who experience a mental health and/or substance use crisis and who do not require a hospital stay. We serve anyone, 16 years of age or older. Our confidential and free services are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Services provided:
- Telephone crisis assessment, intervention and support
- In-person crisis counselling
- Short-term crisis stabilization bed stay (including police designated Safe Beds)
- Group counselling
- Peer support drop-in group
We support individuals in developing effective solutions to their crises through immediate assessment, care and support. We also link individuals with resources for ongoing assistance. Our crisis and peer support workers have a broad range of experience in the fields of health, mental health, addictions, recovery and crisis counselling.
The Barrett Centre is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
